On Thursday 9/9/04, the LegalMatch Fall 2004 Rooftop Basketball Tournament commenced. The coverage below was provided by Lance Burton.
In the first game, *Rejection Sustained* knocked around a smaller undermanned *Crouching Tiger Hidden Edmund* two games to none. Even with a very evident Edmund Lin watching from the gallery, The Tigers simply couldn’t overcome a dominating performance by Matt Griffith. Griffith’s 10 points 10 rebounds led the yellow headband clad Rejection, who took the lead from the very opening whistle and never looked back. Despite a big rebounding game from the Tigers’ Doug Octopus Ott, whose hands seemed to come from every part of his body, it just wasn’t enough. In the end, the Leslie Murray led Rejection just showed too much depth, uniformity and teamwork to be denied the victory. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tiger Captain Ona Ahumada begins scouring the LegalMatch hallways to find a new player or two to add to her roster. They could use a little help to get through the rest of this season.
The second game featured the determined *Revenge of the Nerds* led by Patricia Rae against the undeniable *Kill Ball Vol.1* No surprises here, as Frank Perkins went wild with an array of shots through his legs, behind his back, blindfolded and sitting from a chair while speaking with an attorney and sipping a cup of coffee. Perkins finished as the leagues leading scorer with 11 points. He got a lot of help from Captain Diane Tran who came away with 5 points and 4 rebounds. Don’t count the Nerds out too early. These guys pack a serious punch with Neil Fradkin, Rob Devereaux and Benny Wells. This is the first time this group has played together on the Rooftop garden. So, once they figure out where the basket is…they’re still calculating it…look out.
There’s a full slate of games coming up next week when these four teams are back in action. Plus *Affirmative Action* and the *Supreme Court* will both make their debut in games as well. Here’s a breakdown of how the scoring went in this weeks action.
